Visually, the G-Class "Edition Stronger Than the 1980s" is reminiscent of the anniversary G-Class, which was presented in 2023 on the occasion of the 500,000th vehicle. It has the same dark Agave Green body colour, headlamp grilles and yellow direction indicators.
However, in the new special edition there are two more classic shades to choose from: Cream and Colorado Beige. All of them were used in the 1980s for the G-Class of that time.
Regardless of the chosen basic body colour, each SUV has special elements painted in Night Black Magno. This applies to the front bumper, grille, guards, sills, wheel arch extensions, mirrors and other exterior parts. The standard equipment includes silver 18-inch wheels.
The car gets original emblems on the bonnet, tailgate and spare wheel cover. Also standard is the Professional Line Exterior package with off-road tyres, mud guards, roof rack and ladder at the rear.
The interior features cloth upholstery with Dove Grey and White chequered inserts and a '1 of 460' nameplate on the centre console. On the passenger handle there is an inscription "Stronger Than the 1980s", and the sill plates are decorated with contours of the Schöckl mountain in Austria - the traditional place of G-Class tests.
Otherwise, it is a fully modern G-Class with a digital dashboard, multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
In Europe, the special edition will be offered in G 450 d (diesel) and G 500 (petrol) versions based on the 2026 model year SUV. A version based on the G 550 is prepared for the US market.
The G-Class Edition Stronger Than the 1980s will have a worldwide circulation of only 460 units. Prices have not been announced yet. Mercedes plans to start deliveries closer to the end of the year. Given the unique design and limited edition, the cost is sure to be higher than the standard versions.
