The main title, World Car of the Year, went to the Kia EV3, which beat the BMW X3 and Hyundai Inster in the final round. This is Kia's second consecutive win. Last year, for example, the EV9 was recognised as the best car.
Electric cars in general dominated this year. The Volvo EX90 was the World Luxury Car, beating out the Porsche Macan and Porsche Panamera.
The Hyundai Inster / Casper Electric won the "World Electric Vehicle" category. It is a compact urban crossover with 115 hp, aimed primarily at Asian markets.
The "World Urban Car" title went to the BYD Seagull / Dolphin Mini, a hatchback that costs less than $10,000 in China. The Seagull Intelligent Driving Edition has a range of up to 405 kilometres.
The World Car Design of the Year category was won by the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The electric minivan, although it has been presented for several years, beat the Kia EV3 and Toyota Land Cruiser / Land Cruiser 250.
The only non-electric car among the winners was the Porsche 911 GTS, taking home the World Performance Car award.
