Stellantis has announced two recall campaigns in the US. Owners of the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Dodge Hornet and Maserati GranTurismo will be invited for servicing

The more massive recall includes 40,372 Dodge Hornet and 8,122 Alfa Romeo Tonale models. These related crossovers may fail to display a camera image when reversing, which is not only unpleasant but also violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in the US.

According to the regulator, about 1 per cent of the 48,494 vehicles may have a soldering defect on a voltage regulator or a microprocessor failure, resulting in no camera image. The vehicles falling under the recall are from the 2023-2025 model years.

After an internal investigation, the company has decided to conduct a recall campaign. Car owners will be offered a multimedia system software update or replacement. Notices will begin to be sent out in June.

The second, smaller but unusual problem concerns 21 examples of the 2024 model year Maserati GranTurismo. Cars with the Nero Scarabeo body colour may have the information sticker on the centre body pillar (B-pillar) on the driver's side peel off. This violates the labelling requirements as the technical information label must be permanently affixed.

As it turns out, the adhesive used at the factory does not interact well with this particular paintwork. The solution is simple - during routine car maintenance, service centres will replace the stickers that are falling off with new ones with a more tenacious adhesive.
