The Boreal will be the second Renault model based on the CMF-B platform to be produced in South America. The same architecture is used in the Kardian and is to underpin the Niagara pick-up truck, which will start production in Argentina next year.
The name "Boreal" means "pertaining to the North". A curious name for a model that will be sold mainly in South America. However, Renault already sells the Austral ("belonging to or relating to the South") in the Northern Hemisphere. Thus the two models will now symbolically offset each other.
The Renault Boreal will go on sale in Brazil and Argentina later this year. Specifications and other details of the model have not yet been officially revealed.
