The new Volvo XC70 gets a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-litre turbocharged BHE15-BFZ engine developed by Aurobay, a company that recently joined the joint venture between Geely and Renault called Horse Powertrain.
The electric motors are not specified in the documentation, but the battery parameters are known. The base version is equipped with LFP-batteries CATL with a capacity of 21.22 kW∙h, providing up to 100 kilometres of travel on electric traction on the CLTC cycle. Fuel consumption with a discharged battery is 5.85 litres/100 km. More expensive modification received a traction battery NMC with a capacity of 39.63 kW∙h, thanks to which the range is increased to 180 km. Fuel consumption in this case is 6.55 litres/100 km.
The dimensions of the XC70 are 4815×1890×1650 mm with a wheelbase of 2895 mm. The car is slightly longer but lower than the BMW X3 (G45). The entry and exit angles are 18 and 21 degrees respectively. Depending on the version and battery, the weight of the car ranges from 2110kg to 2275kg.
The design of the crossover includes characteristic headlights in the style of "Thor's hammer", retractable door handles, frameless mirrors and front grille with active flaps. The base model comes with 19-inch wheels, with 20 and 21-inch options also available.
The new XC70 was initially developed with an eye on Chinese consumers. About the prospects of the model's release on the global market is not yet reported.
