Apple unveiled the new iOS 26 and a complete redesign of all its platforms, including CarPlay, at the WWDC 2025 developer conference.

The updated Apple CarPlay will feature a "Liquid Glass" style design. These are semi-transparent graphical elements that change their appearance depending on the surrounding content. There are also several changes in the logic of interaction with notifications, including a new compact view for incoming calls. Apple says this will allow users to see who is calling without blocking information about upcoming turns or directions.

Another useful change is the introduction of widgets. The company did not share much about them, but the widgets seem to include virtual buttons for connected devices, such as garage doors and smart lights in the home. Users will also be able to quickly glance at their Live Activities.

The latest version of CarPlay has also received updates related to Messages. Specifically, users will be able to pin conversations and respond to messages using Tapback - quickly give a thumbs-up or other reaction.

The mentioned updates will also be available in CarPlay Ultra, which was recently launched in Aston Martin cars. It will later appear in other brands, including vehicles from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.
