The new model is inspired by the legendary Golf II Fire and Ice of 1990 and is produced in a total of just 1990 units - in honor of the year the original debuted. In Germany, prices start at 56,020 euros. The hatchback is offered with two versions of the powertrain:
- 210 kW (286 hp),
- 240 kW (326 hp),
In both cases - with a torque of 545 Nm. The more powerful modification accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 200 km/h.
Energy comes from a battery with a capacity of 79 kWh (net). Fast charging is supported up to 185 kW, allowing the charge to be replenished from 10 to 80% in 26 minutes. The range according to the WLTP cycle is up to 591 km.
The main visual feature is the Ultra Violet Metallic paint, referencing the original Golf Fire and Ice. The image is complemented by
- contrasting red accents Flaming Red on the roof trim
- matte pattern FIRE+ICE on the rear pillar
- Fire and Ice logo on the spoiler
- 20-inch Locarno wheels with red GTX center caps and purple accents
- darkened rear lights and projection of fire and ice symbols when opening the doors.
Inside - a two-tone theme:
- the driver side is decorated in "On Fire Red"
- the passenger side is in "Keep Cool Blue"
The seats refer to BOGNER jackets - with zipper stitching and the signature FIRE+ICE logo in the center. Special stitching and emblems are also used on the steering wheel, floor mats, door inserts, and dashboard.
Both versions of the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE have good equipment:
- Interior Plus package: sports seats with electric adjustment and massage, head-up display with augmented reality, Harman Kardon audio system
- Convenience package: dual-zone climate control, navigation
- Assistance package: parking assistant, rearview camera, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control
- Sports suspension is included as standard equipment, and in the 240 kW version, adaptive dampers of the DCC system are also installed
- Sports tires are available for an additional charge
The original Golf Fire and Ice was released in 1990 and became a fashion sensation. Developed in collaboration with designer and director Willy Bogner, it was distinguished by its purple paint, aggressive body kit, and powerful engines (up to 160 hp). It was initially planned to limit production to 10,000 units, but 16,700 were sold - and now this version is considered iconic among Golf GTI fans.
