Chris Harris, a well-known British car reviewer and former Top Gear presenter, found himself at the center of a minor drama: his classic BMW M5 (E28) was stolen right off the street. However, as soon as Harris asked for help from his Instagram followers, the car was quickly located.

Chris Harris has nearly 900,000 followers just on Instagram. Early in the morning on July 21, he reported that his M5 was stolen overnight in the Clifton area (Bristol). "Please help find it. This car has been with me for 19 years," wrote Harris. Just three hours after the post, one of his followers reported that they seemed to have found the car.

Harris drove to the indicated location and upon arrival saw his car parked on the side of the street. There he was met by a follower named Lee, who promised to stay with the car until Harris arrived.

The thieves did not take much care: they damaged the ignition lock and broke the rim. But against the backdrop of a potential removal of the car to the other side of the world or disassembly for parts, this was still a minor outcome. Harris shared that he was incredibly happy to get his car back.

There was almost no fuel left in the tank, but the M5 still started, and judging by the sound, the engine was fine.
