The fully electric Transit SuperVan 4.2, developed by Ford Performance specifically for racing and record attempts, completed the lap through the "Green Hell" in under seven minutes.

In May 2025, the Ford Mustang GTD became the fastest production vehicle manufactured in America at the legendary Nürburgring in Germany with a time of 6:52.072 minutes per lap. But now, a completely different Ford has surpassed this result - the fully electric Transit SuperVan 4.2.

At the wheel was Romain Dumas, and the best lap time was 6:48.393. This made the SuperVan 4.2 the ninth fastest vehicle in the history of the Nürburgring, surpassing the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Corvette ZR1X, which had recently left the Mustang GTD behind.

Of course, the SuperVan 4.2 cannot be called a production vehicle: it is a unique technology demonstrator with a power of 2000 hp and a lot of racing technologies. Nevertheless, the fact that a van has set the record is remarkable.

The SuperVan has already shone at Pikes Peak, the Top Gear track, and at the Hill Climb in Goodwood, so the success at the Nürburgring was just a matter of time. This race also gained symbolism from history: in the early 2000s, Sabine Schmitz said in the show Top Gear that she would even drive the "Nordschleife" faster with a regular Ford Transit than Jeremy Clarkson in the Jaguar S-Type. While this did not happen, thanks to Schmitz’s skill, the best lap time was 10:12 minutes.
