At the IAA Mobility 2025 auto show, the Polestar 5 debuted—a four-door electric Grand Tourer designed to compete with the Porsche Taycan. In Germany, prices start at €119,900 for the Dual Motor version and €142,900 for the Polestar 5 Performance.

The new model is based on the Precept concept shown five years ago. The silhouette remains close to the show car: the signature Dual Blade optics with matrix LEDs, smooth body panels, flush door handles, frameless doors, and a streamlined profile with a rear without a rear window.

Inside, minimalist design and technology abound: a 9-inch digital instrument panel, a 9.5-inch heads-up display, and a 14.5-inch multimedia screen based on Android Automotive with Google services. The front seats were developed in collaboration with Recaro, available in MicroTech and Bridge of Weir Nappa leather, as well as heated, ventilated, and massaging options. The rear row is designed for two passengers: individual climate control, "relax" functions, and additional legroom thanks to depressions in the floor.

Standard equipment includes a digital rearview mirror, flax composite trim, a 10-speaker audio system (optional - Bowers Wilkins with 21 speakers), and a panoramic roof over 1.8 m long. The trunk volume is 365 liters plus a small front trunk of 62 liters.

The Polestar 5 is built on a new Polestar Performance Architecture platform, equipped with Brembo brakes and a suite of assistants. The latter consists of 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and radar.

The base Dual Motor version received a 112 kWh battery and all-wheel drive with 738 hp and 812 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.9 seconds, top speed is limited to 250 km/h, and range reaches 670 km on the WLTP cycle. Fast charging up to 350 kW is supported: from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes.

The Polestar 5 Performance develops 872 hp and 1015 Nm, reducing the acceleration time to 100 km/h to 3.2 seconds. However, the range is reduced to 565 km. The version features a sports suspension with adaptive dampers, black accents, and "Swedish gold" in the brake caliper, belt, and cap trim.

Orders are already being taken. Initially, sales will start in 24 countries out of the 28 where Polestar is officially represented. Among the exceptions are the USA and Canada - the Polestar 5 will appear in North America later.
