BMW has already received over three thousand orders for the electric crossover iX3 only in the domestic market of Germany. The model was first shown just six weeks ago and has not even appeared at dealers yet.

The head of BMW Group Christian Ach stated that the interest in the iX3 exceeded the company's most optimistic forecasts. «We received more than 3000 orders for the iX3 in the first six weeks after the launch at the IAA in Munich», — he told the publication Automobilwoche. It is most likely referring to demand only in Germany.

The new BMW iX3 is not yet even available for test drives. In Germany, the 2026 model year iX3 will cost from 68,900 euros. A more affordable version is expected next year, with a starting price closer to 60,000 euros.

At launch, only one modification of the iX3 will be available — the iX3 50 xDrive. It has two electric motors that together produce 463 hp and 645 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.7 seconds. The battery with a usable capacity of 108 kWh charges from 10 to 80% in 21 minutes and provides a range of 644 km according to the WLTP cycle.

In a conversation with Automobilwoche, Ach added that the planned production pace for the iX3 in 2026 «will not be able to meet the high demand».

The next model in the BMW Neue Klasse lineup will be the i3. Despite the familiar designation, this version will be a fully electric 3-series, not the compact unusual hatchback or minivan that the previous car with the same name was.
