Until now, the Land Cruiser lineup consisted of three separate series. The Station Wagon always showcases the latest technology and represents the flagship model (currently the 300 series). The Heavy-Duty model with exceptional durability and ease of maintenance (series 70). The base Land Cruiser model, created in 2024 as a "return to the roots" — a simple, durable everyday vehicle (series 250).
Now, the lineup has a third model. It is still a full-fledged body-on-frame SUV, albeit smaller than its "big brothers." The wheelbase is 2657 mm, even shorter than that of the outgoing RAV4 crossover generation, although in height, it matches the 250 series, and the spare tire is proudly mounted on the rear door.
The new SUV debuted with two options for the front part of the body: round headlights in a classic style and flat ones in a modern design. Toyota claims that the Land Cruiser FJ boasts the same wheel articulation as the legendary Cruiser 70 series, meaning it will handle rough terrain well. Incidentally, the turning radius is only 5.5 meters.
In Japan, the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be available with a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE gasoline engine with a power output of 120 kW (163 hp) and a torque of 246 Nm. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic, with full (part-time 4WD) drive.
Toyota will present the Land Cruiser FJ at its booth at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which will be held from October 30 to November 9. The company mentioned that the model will be available in various countries. More details about the launch dates and prices will be revealed later.
