Toyota unveiled the new Corolla at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and confirmed that the next generation of the model will be available with "all possible" powertrains, including battery-electric.

The car shown in Tokyo is a concept car close to the future production version. Toyota designer Lance Scott stated at the presentation that a global model like the Corolla cannot be limited to one type of powertrain. Therefore, the next generation will be available with internal combustion engines, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, a fully electric power unit, and will be able to run on carbon-neutral fuel.

The design language of the model was developed in Europe. The focus is on clean lines and contemporary trends. The interior looks bright and minimalist, with large windows, multiple displays, touch buttons on the steering wheel, and a slim central console. Despite the elegant interior, Toyota does not plan to raise the class of the model — Corolla remains a competitor to the VW Golf and in the future to the ID.3.

Toyota has not yet announced the timeframe for the release of the new Corolla on the market. The current E210 series model was introduced in 2018 (in 2019 in Europe) and is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Theoretically, the new generation could appear as early as 2026.
