Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging and Starbucks officially opened their first joint DC fast-charging station on Interstate 5 in Red Bluff, California.

Mercedes-Benz chargers with a capacity of 400 kW can add up to 300 miles (about 480 km) of range in 10 minutes depending on the electric vehicle model. Each station is equipped with cables and connectors of NACS (Tesla) and CCS standards. Thus, they are suitable for the widest possible range of models.

The Interstate 5 (I-5) is the main north-south interstate highway on the west coast of the United States, running primarily parallel to the Pacific coast of the continental US from Mexico to Canada. Mercedes-Benz HPC announced plans to install charging stations at Starbucks cafes on I-5 for the first time in July 2024.

In the future, Mercedes plans to install fast-charging stations at 100 Starbucks across the United States.

As of the end of 2024, Mercedes-Benz HPC launched over 150 fast-charging stations in the US.
