In 2024, Nissan launched the second generation of the affordable Kicks SUV. But its predecessor is not to be written off yet — the Japanese car manufacturer presented a reimagined, more modern style Kicks in Brazil, and along with it gave it a new name, Kait.
The original Kicks first appeared in 2016 and was updated in 2021. With the appearance of the new generation model, Nissan continued to sell the previous version in some regions, including the United States, under the name Kicks Play. In Latin America, this baton passed to Kait.
The novelty is almost the same size as the Kicks Play: the car's length is 4.30 meters, width — 1.76 meters, and wheelbase — 2.62 meters.
Although the profile and window line remained unchanged, the SUV received sharper split LED headlights, an enlarged bumper with a thin protective plate, and a tailgate complemented by thin rear lights.
Nissan promises "a good level of equipment", as well as "excellent interior space" and a trunk volume of 432 liters.
Kait is built on the time-tested V platform, which has been used in various Nissan models since 2010. Under the hood, there is a 1.6-liter HR16DE engine with an aluminum cylinder block paired with an XTRONIC CVT transmission. When running on gasoline, it develops a power output of 110 horsepower.
In Brazil, prices for the new Nissan Kait start at 117,990 reais, which is approximately equivalent to 22,220 US dollars or 19,100 euros.
