GR GT is built on a specially developed aluminum frame and uses carbon fiber components throughout the body. Toyota has not confirmed all the car's specifications but stated that it will weigh 1750 kg "or less" and have a weight distribution of 45:55.
The car measures 4820 mm in length, 2000 mm in width, 1195 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2725 mm.
Rumors that the GR GT would get a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine proved true. This engine has a dry sump lubrication system and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission developed specifically for this car. The drive is exclusively rear-wheel.
Regarding power, Toyota claims that the GR GT will deliver 641 hp "or more" and 850 Nm of torque "or more." It remains to be seen what the final power output will be, but it is known that the V8 is complemented by an electric motor, so the response should be excellent.
The GR GT has an elevated profile with a huge hood and slim headlights. It looks noticeably more aggressive than some competitors, undoubtedly due to its motorsport connection. The car stands on 20-inch wheels with 265/35 tires at the front and 325/30 at the rear.
Carbon-ceramic brakes are fitted front and rear. Also, the suspension on all four corners is of the double wishbone type. Dynamic performance? Toyota has not disclosed them, but stated that the top speed will be 320 km/h or higher.
The interior, with its combination of red leather and Alcantara, also resembles no other Toyota product. The digital instrument panel features original graphics, the new steering wheel is GR-branded, with paddle shifters behind it, and to the right is a large multimedia system display.
Toyota notes that the GR GT and GR GT3 are still in development, so the final details may change before production begins. The price remains a mystery, but deliveries are expected in 2027.
