Volvo Cars has officially announced the imminent cessation of sales in the USA of cars with station wagon body types. The last to leave the market will be the V60 Cross Country.

Sales of the Volvo V60 Cross Country in the USA will end in January 2026, and production of the model in American specifications will cease in April. This will mark the end of a 70-year era of station wagons in the country. The Volvo V90 station wagon was removed from the American lineup as far back as 2021.

Afterward, customers will only be able to purchase vehicles from existing stock. Volvo clarified that dealerships may still have individual units for a few more months, but after they are sold, new station wagons will not be offered in the USA.

The company explains this decision as necessary to adapt to American consumer preferences. According to Volvo, the US market is primarily oriented towards SUVs and crossovers. The turning point was the release of the XC90 model in 2003, after which crossovers began to gradually replace station wagons, fulfilling similar roles but providing higher profitability.

At the same time, Volvo emphasizes that it is not leaving the American market and maintains strategic interest in it. The changes only affect the model lineup. Meanwhile, production of the V60 for other markets will continue.
