The BMW Alpina emblem has retained historical elements of the previous Alpina image — the throttle valve and the crankshaft — but has become flatter and more minimalist. The shield, as well as the red and blue segments, have disappeared from the design. The chrome finish of the rings and the Alpina lettering have also been removed. The font itself has slightly changed, although the differences are not immediately noticeable.
BMW is also revising other key elements of the brand style. The signature 20-spoke Alpina wheels will receive an update — diamond-cut finish and two-tone execution. This is a nod to the original design of the early 1970s.
The interiors of new BMW Alpina cars will exclusively use "high-quality leather" in standard equipment. Details have not been disclosed yet, but a wide range of upholstery colors is expected, as in Alpina models of the previous era.
The first car of the new BMW Alpina era is likely to debut by the end of the year. It will not be a separate model, but a more luxurious version of the updated BMW 7 Series. Rumor has it that the sedan will differ significantly from the pre-reform version and will receive a new index G72 instead of G70.
