The French brand DS has unveiled the second generation of the DS N°7 crossover — the brand’s most popular model. The car received a new design, a reimagined interior, and an expanded range of power units, including hybrid and fully electric versions.

The new DS N°7 is built on the STLA Medium platform, shared with the Jeep Compass and DS N°8 models. Production is established at the plant in Melfi in southern Italy. The crossover has become larger: its length has increased by 7 cm and now stands at 4.66 m, and the wheelbase has grown by 5 cm to 2.79 m. Width (1.90 m) and height (1.63 m) remain unchanged.

The design is kept in styling familiar from the DS N°8. The body received more pronounced edges and complex shapes, while the aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cx) is 0.26. The front part is visually widened thanks to the illuminated grille and narrow headlights connected to vertical daytime running lights. The profile looks massive, with wheel rims ranging from 19 to 21 inches. At the back, vertical lights are installed, creating a dynamic appearance. However, the massive rear pillar and small sloping glass limit rear visibility, partially compensated by a digital rearview mirror.

The boot volume is stated to be 560 liters. A double floor is provided to store the charging cables.

The interior design incorporates wood, soft leather, and, depending on the configuration, alcantara. The equipment includes a 12.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 16-inch central display. The screen is stretched horizontally and is available to both the driver and the front passenger. It allows control of the seat massage functions, climate system, and multimedia. The seats are equipped with electric adjustments, heating, ventilation, and a neck heating function.

At the start of sales, the DS N°7 will be offered with a 1.2-liter petrol engine as part of a mild hybrid system with a power of 145 hp, and also in three electric versions. The basic electric vehicle is equipped with a 74 kWh battery and a front axle motor with a power of 230 hp, providing a range of about 540 km. The Long Range version features a 245 hp motor and a 97 kWh battery, providing up to 740 km according to the WLTP cycle. The top all-wheel-drive version with two electric motors develops 350 hp and is equipped with the same 97 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 680 km.

The maximum charging power is 160 kW, with the system capable of maintaining this level steadily from 20% to 55% charge. According to the manufacturer, charging from 20% to 80% takes about 27 minutes, and in 10 minutes you can replenish the range by approximately 200 km. The PlugCharge function is supported, allowing automatic authorization at compatible charging stations and making payments without additional actions.

The prices for the new generation DS N°7 have not yet been announced. In France, ordertaking will open in May, and the first deliveries to dealers are expected in October.
