Rivian opened the R2 configurator on May 15, 2026, letting reservation holders finally spec their vehicle. The entry point is the R2 Performance Launch Edition at $57,990, with EPA-estimated range of 335 miles on 21-inch wheels and native NACS charging — the Tesla-developed connector now becoming the US standard. The catch: the federal $7,500 EV tax credit under Section 30D of the IRA has expired, so that price is what you pay.
Pricing and trims
The Performance Launch Edition is the only trim available for spring 2026 delivery. A fully loaded configuration climbs to $62,745. The R2 Premium ($53,990) follows in late 2026, and the Standard trims — Long Range at $48,490 and a base model targeting around $45,000 — are pushed to 2027. All three trim levels come with NACS natively, giving access to more than 21,000 Tesla Supercharger stations.
On range, the R2 Performance's 335-mile EPA figure edges past the Tesla Model Y Performance at 306 miles EPA, though the Rivian's launch price runs about $920 higher.
The Launch Package and what it bundles
Early buyers can add the Launch Package, which Rivian values at $3,700. It includes lifetime access to Autonomy+ (a Level 2+ hands-free driver-assistance system), the Tow Package rated at 4,400 lb, a Launch Edition key fob, and the exclusive Launch Green paint. Bought separately, those items would total closer to $5,700 — Autonomy+ alone is a $2,500 standalone purchase.
The Autonomy+ hardware note worth flagging: production R2s ship without LiDAR, and Rivian has confirmed no retrofit path is planned.
Colors, wheels, and options
Any color beyond the no-cost Esker Silver adds $1,000–$2,000 to the sticker. Forest Green arrives in late 2026; Borealis Purple, exclusive to the Performance trim, won't be available until 2027. Standard trim rides on 19-inch wheels; Premium gets 20-inch two-tone; Performance comes standard with 21-inch Liquid Tungsten wheels, with an option to swap to 20-inch Black Sand off-road wheels wearing 32-inch BF Goodrich tires.
Adding all-wheel drive to the Standard trim costs $3,500 and trims range from 345 to 330 miles. A compact spare with jack and wheel chocks is available for $755 — an unusually practical option for a modern electric crossover.
Production and delivery timing
Rivian says the Normal, Illinois plant is running without downtime, with early units going to internal testing and employees. Customer delivery invitations begin rolling out in June, per Electrek. More than 200,000 pre-orders are already on the books, so delivery windows will vary by reservation date and location. The configurator is live now at rivian.com for US and Canada only.
