The Korean company SsangYong is on the verge of bankruptcy, but continues to struggle for existence. The new budget crossover Torres should help with this.

SsangYong Torres is a mid-size crossover with a length of about 4.6 m with the original design of the front and sidewalls. At the same time, the design of the stern echoes the Korando model, on the platform of which the Torres is built.

The interior of the Torres is fundamentally different from any previous SsangYong model, combining the retro aesthetic of a single visor without protrusions for the entire front panel with modern solutions such as full touch climate control, a large touchscreen media system and a digital instrument panel.

MacPherson strut front, multi-link rear. The promised fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 6.7 l / 100 km.

In Korea, Torres will get a choice of four interior colors: black, brown, khaki and white. The list of options will include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and automatic high beam control, and the list of security systems will include autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assistance.

Trunk volume - 703 or 839 liters without a curtain. With the back of the second row folded - 1662 liters. The third row of seats in SsangYong Torres is not provided.

The top equipment can count on such equipment as front seats with ventilation, interior contour lighting, heated rear seats and an eight-way electrically adjustable driver's seat.

The engine in SsangYong Torres is located transversely. According to information from Korean certification documents, the novelty received a 1.5 T-GDi petrol turbo four with 170 hp. and 280 Nm in combination with a 6-speed "automatic". The basic version is front-wheel drive, but for a surcharge it will be possible to choose an all-wheel drive modification.

In the SsangYong model range, the new Torres crossover will be located between Korando and Rexton. In Korea, the price of the basic version should be about 20.5 thousand dollars, the top - up to 24 thousand dollars. The start of production is scheduled for June 2022.

The SsangYong company is going through hard times and after the termination of financing from the Indian Mahindra, it is unsuccessfully trying to find a new investor who will save it from bankruptcy. Nevertheless, as the Torres example has shown, the development of new models continues.
