The US House of Representatives approved the draft defense budget for 2023. The document provides for 1 billion dollars to ensure the security of Ukraine, in particular, 100 million dollars for the training of Ukrainian pilots and ground personnel.

The project of the law on the US defense budget for fiscal year 2023 provides for a total funding of a record 839 billion US dollars. The House of Representatives passed the document on Thursday, July 14, by a vote of 329 to 101.

1 billion US dollars will be allocated within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This is $700 million more than last year.

Voice of America journalist Ostap Yarysh reported, the congressmen also approved an amendment to allocate 100 million dollars for a program to train Ukrainian pilots on American planes.

In addition, the draft law prescribes procedures for supervision and auditing of the actions of the Pentagon, which are related to the support of Ukraine, including the provision of military aid.

It is also planned to establish a joint program of the Pentagon and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel. Among other things, the program includes the training of military medics.

To enter into force, the law still needs to be passed by the Senate and signed by the President of the United States. Due to the large number of proposed amendments, agreement may take a long time.

We would like to remind you that the fiscal year 2023 in the USA will begin on October 1.
