The Geneva Motor Show has not been held in Geneva for the fourth year in a row.

The 2023 Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) will be held exclusively in Doha, Qatar. The event, scheduled for February 2023 in Geneva, will not take place, organizers have announced.

“Due to uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as the risks associated with the development of the pandemic, the organizers have decided to focus exclusively on planning the Doha event in 2023,” said Maurice Turettini, President of the Geneva Motor Show Standing Committee.

The original plan of the organizers was to hold GIMS 2023 in two stages: the first from February 14 to 19, 2023 at Palexpo in Geneva, and the second - for the first time ever - in November, in Doha, Qatar.

“We did our best to host GIMS 2023 in Geneva in February. The extended format of the event and the project were very well received. But in the end, the risks outweighed the opportunities,” added Maurice Turettini.

The first, as strange as it may sound, the Geneva International Motor Show in Qatar will be held in November 2023 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), as well as several other venues. Exact dates will be announced later. In the future, the event in Qatar is planned to be held every two years.

Geneva Motor Show 2019

Usually, the Geneva Motor Show takes place annually in March, at the Palexpo exhibition center, located next to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. The last exhibition was held there in 2019, after which GIMS was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the global shortage of chips in the automotive industry.
