Tesla quietly uploaded to its website some new photos of his long-awaited electric tractor. These images show how well the rear-view cameras help to see what is in the blind spots. Also noticeable are the keys for lighting the cabin and, probably, for controlling the pneumatic systems of the semi-trailer.
Recall that the first Tesla Semi prototypes were presented in 2017. The company initially predicted the start of production at the end of 2020, then the dates shifted by a year, and then completely to 2023. However, Elon Musk recently announced on Twitter that Tesla Semi deliveries will still begin in 2022.
The first production models of the truck will be versions with a power reserve of 500 miles (804 km). According to rumors, they will receive traction batteries with new 4680 batteries, which appeared on the Tesla Model Y crossover and should eventually spread to the entire model range of the company.
The expected cost of cars with a range of 500 miles is $180,000. A modification with a range of 300 miles (480 km) should also appear, which will be $ 30,000 cheaper.
Pre-orders for Tesla Semi have already been issued by such companies as PepsiCo, Walmart, United Parcel Service, FedEx and others.
