Jim Farley believes that the design of the Cadillac Lyriq does not fully correspond to what a new generation electric car should look like. Allegedly, Lyriq is not impressive, because it looks too much like a car with an internal combustion engine.
Ford Motor CEO told in an interview to Newsweek that the brands under his control, in particular Lincoln, would not make an electric car like the Cadillac Lyriq. Because people do not perceive it as something fundamentally new and electric.
The Cadillac Lyriq is Cadillac's first electric vehicle and General Motors' latest battery-powered vehicle. A rear-wheel-drive version of the SUV will go on sale in the fall, starting at $62,990. Such a car has one 340 hp engine and a 100 kWh battery, which Cadillac says should be enough to get you 312 miles (502 km).
In June, Cadillac announced that all 2023 Lyriqs were already sold out. Pre-orders are now only available for 2024 vehicles, which may rise in price by the time they arrive due to rising merchandise, logistics and technology costs.
