Chery Gene concept takes on a futuristic exterior while still incorporating some classic and retro features. The light bar on the front of the car is flanked by two glossy black accents, which gives it a bit of an futuristic look. The bumper also has a large aerodynamic splitter, which makes the car look faster and more aggressive. These bold design choices are most visible from the sides.
The front quarter panels project outward further than the fronts doors. The rocker panels include chrome accents to add a touch of luxury, while the black and white wheels with solid spoke design make an attention-grabbing statement. The majority of bodywork is done in matte silver but for extra contrast, pillars and the roof are in gloss black.
The rear three-quarter panels of the SUV, in particular with the thick C-pillars, create a striking exterior design. Rounding out this look is a large LED taillight complete with black accents similar to those on the front fascia.
Not only is the exterior of the concept remarkable, but the interior is as well. In standard mode, driver use futuristic steering wheel to drive. However, when autonomous driving technology takes over in Meta mode, the steering wheel folds away and the seats for four people recline.
The Gene concept also includes an electric skateboard and two drones that can be linked to the vehicle. This would offer passengers an immersive VR experience.
The purpose of this vehicle, according to officials, is to study the future family design language for Chery cars' main line. The concept car is powered by electricity obtained from the sun. However, the characteristics of the engine are not disclosed.
