The MAN Lion's City E is now the Bus of the Year 2023, with up to 550 kilometers of range, three available lengths, and assistance systems such as the MAN OptiView mirror replacement system.
According to jury president at IAA Hannover Tom Terjesen, the Bus of the Year 2023 is the most important award in the worldwide bus industry. The 23-member jury from 23 European countries was particularly pleased by the exceptional working conditions for bus drivers. "The MAN Lion's City E offers one of the greatest employment opportunities on the market," Terjesen added.
In terms of range, the MAN Lion's City E sets a new benchmark. With this electric bus, fleet operators can anticipate a distance of up to 350 kilometers, greatly enhancing the MAN Lion's City E's operational flexibility. The most important consideration is whether you want to use the "Reliable Range" with 270 kilometers range or "Maximum Range" battery usage strategy. With the “Maximum Range” option, the MAN Lion's City E travels up to 350 kilometers and TÜV SÜD has confirmed that the bus can travel an impressive 550 kilometres on one battery.
Since 1989, the international jury of experts has been awarding the "Bus of the Year" " titles to various bus types on an annual basis. The European trade journalists pay particular attention to the practical suitability and concept of the vehicles provided by the manufacturers for the comparative test. This year the jury-members decided as criterion that only electrically driven buses could participate in this years final qualifying round. The rivals of MAN Lion's City E were: Higer Azure, Karsan eATA, Mercedes-Benz eCitaro and Volvo BZL Electric with a MCV body.
