AirConsole and the BMW Group have partnered to bring casual gaming into new BMW vehicles. The games will run directly on the in-vehicle entertainment system.

Games that can be played in BMW models will run directly on the car's entertainment software. Players only need a smartphone, which serves as the game controller, and the BMW Curved Display. The connection between the smartphone and the vehicle is established by scanning a QR code in the vehicle. The players can then instantly enjoy entertaining gameplay.

This will provide passengers with a chance to pass the time in their automobile without thinking about it.

Stephan Durach, the senior vice president of BMW Group Connected Company Development, said the tech could make waiting for your vehicle to charge "an enjoyable moment." As BMW and others shift to EVs, automakers will implement services to keep passengers entertained during longer charging stints.

Although AirConsole has an impressive 185 game titles on PC, it is unknown how many of those will translate over to BMW's Curved Display. Games include titles such as 8Bit Fiesta, Mega Monster Party, Let's Cook Together, GoKartGo! Air!, Burning Rubber 5 Air, and many more casual games.

BMW will offer technology in its cars starting in 2023. It is not yet clear which models will have this service.
