Maserati has announced that the convertible version of the GranTurismo, called the GranCabrio, will debut in 2023. The company also released the first official photos of the prototype car.

As you can see, this car has tailpipes, meaning it is powered by an internal combustion engine. We anticipate the powertrains to begin with a less powerful version of the MC20's twin-turbo V6. The 3.0-liter engine can produce 483 hp (360 kW/490 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the car to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in as little as 3.9 seconds; though, making this a convertible may have decreased that acceleration somewhat due to the extra weight.

The slightly-modified engine in the GranTurismo provides 543 hp (405 kW/550 PS) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds. Maserati has also said that the GranCabrio will have an electric powertrain. The powertrain is predicted to be the same as that of the GranTurismo Folgore, which would give the car 751 hp (560 kW/761 PS), all-wheel-drive, and 1,350 Nm (996 lb-ft) of torque.

Maserati plans to take this and other prototype models for a spin on both the road and track before revealing the GranCabrio next year as a 2024 model.
