The dealership has an example of each EQ model currently offered in Japan on display, including the EQA hatchback, EQB SUV, EQC SUV, EQE saloon and EQS saloon. There is also a respective expert for each type of car. In addition, potential buyers can test drive an EV before making a decision on whether the car suits their lifestyle.
Mercedes has not yet said whether it plans to open more showrooms like this one in Europe.
According to the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA), foreign brands sold a record 2,357 EVs in November, which is more than 10% of total imported car sales. This is the first time that battery EVs have caught on in Japan, where domestic makers typically dominate the market.
Mercedes-Benz sold the most cars out of any foreign vehicle brand in Japan last year, with a total of 51,722 cars, according to data from JAIA.
