The new Pear (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) video clip below shows the car for the first time. It will be smaller than the upcoming Fisker Ocean crossover, but it has a lot of interior space.
The Pear will be based on a steel platform, cheaper than the aluminium skateboard architecture of the Ocean. The primary focus of its development programme is to streamline the manufacturing costs so it can be sold as "a premium car for under $30,000". US prices have been confirmed to start at $29,900.
Volkswagen's ID 3 rival will also come with unique features like a boot lid that slides behind the rear bumper for easier access in tight parking spots. There will be plenty of innovative storage options inside the car as well, and two different battery options will be available at launch: one for city driving, and the other for longer distances - which Fisker says will have a range of more than 310 miles (almost 500 km).
Fisker Pear will be produced by technology manufacturer Foxconn at a plant in Ohio that used to belong to General Motors. The company plans to produce 250,000 units per year starting in 2024, with the first deliveries happening soon after production begins.
