The Buick Electra nameplate returns to production after over three decades. Although its precise appearance is still not public, recently leaked spy shots confirm that an electric crossover is in development.

The heavily camouflaged prototype looks very similar to the Electra-X concept. The low roof and beltline that arches upwards at the back is an exact replica of what was seen in the original design. Though the headlights are placeholder images, they still give off the illusion of slim headlights as intended in the concept stage.

In addition, the camo is covering the lower fascia at the front, exposing an Electra-X shape. At the back there are obvious placeholders for the taillights, but like the front, the lenses appear to share space with a shape matching the concept.

There's no visible exhaust system because this is an electric vehicle. It will utilize the GM Ultium platform running batteries developed through a partnership with LG Chem. A single-motor RWD layout is believed to be standard, with a dual-motor AWD system optional.

We do not have an official Electra E4 debut date yet, but speculation puts it happening in the second half of 2023.
