The Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX, a high-performance version of the electric minivan, has been confirmed with a 250 kilowatt power output, equivalent to 335 horsepower, by R&D boss Kai Gruenitz. This exceeds the 295 horsepower of the ID.4 and ID.5 GTX models. While Kai Gruenitz did not reveal the torque output, the two aforementioned SUVs have 339 pound-feet (460 Newton-meters).
Additionally, the ID. Buzz GTX will feature dual motors and all-wheel drive, with unique colors and interior design.
Gruenitz also stated that a non-GTX dual-motor model is being considered and a teaser was shown for a long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive configuration. The longer model, which will be the only one available in the United States when it goes on sale in 2024, will have a larger battery pack than the standard model. The ID. Buzz will be stretched by 250 millimeters (9.8 inches) and will have a three-row layout with seven seats, which can be removed. It will also feature Captain's chairs that turn around.
Lastly, Gruenitz confirmed that a California-badged camper is in the works, but it won't be released until 2025 at the earliest.
