The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, has ordered to form the world's first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike squads. The new military formations are to be created as part of the Army of Drones project, which involves various ministries and government agencies of Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have selected the most skilled military personnel to lead the strike squads. Each of them will receive drones and ammunition, Starlink satellite internet and other necessary equipment to defeat the enemy - the Russian army. In addition, professional training for UAV operators has been organized. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military command does not specify what kind of drones these units will be equipped with.

Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively using both purely military drones, such as the Turkish Bayraktar TB-2 and the Ukrainian Leleka, and civilian models on the battlefield. For example, UAVs from the popular DJI brand are used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and artillery fire correction at short distances from the front line. It is also possible that there will be kamikaze drones of various classes.
