A charity auction at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona, saw the first example of the seventh-gen Ford Mustang fetch an impressive $565,000.

The winning bidder will have the chance to personalize the vehicle, including choosing the exterior color, wheel design, and brake caliper color. The GT model is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at up to 486 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque, with the option of either an automatic or manual transmission.

Ford has a tradition of selling the first new Mustangs for charity, with previous auctions benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), which funds type 1 diabetes research. The funds from the sale of this Mustang will also go towards JDRF.

The new Mustang is set to hit dealer lots in summer 2023, with pricing to be announced later.
