The first GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 SUV was sold at Barrett-Jackson for a whopping $500,000, with all proceeds going to Tread Lightly!, a charity that helps restore trails and promote environmental conservation. The total bid was $2 million less than the original Hummer EV pickup which went up in 2021.

The SUV version of the model is powered by four-wheel-drive, 830 hp and 800-volt architecture. It also has a nine-inch shorter wheelbase than the truck.

GMC Vice President of Buick and GMC, Duncan Aldred, expressed his enthusiasm about the sale: “We’re proud to support Tread Lightly! and their mission through the monumental sale of VIN 001 of the GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 SUV at Barrett-Jackson. We’re honored to start the year off with this donation to a great cause."

In addition to helping support an important cause, the new owner of this rare car will be joining an exclusive group of people who have already purchased it from dealership lots. With more SUVs now hitting the market, it's interesting to think whether they will fetch premiums similar to when the Hummer EV hit its peak back in 2021.
