Generac has stepped into the electric vehicle (EV) charging market with its new Level 2 EV charger. With a J1772 connector and the ability to charge an EV in 4-6 hours, the 48A/11.5 kW charger comes with a NEMA-4 enclosure making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor residential use.

Generac, based in Wisconsin, has been in business since 1959 and is widely recognized for its power generation equipment, electrical storage systems, and other power products. With a ranking as the eighth-largest generator company in the world, according to Insider Monkey, Generac's entry into the EV charging market is sure to make waves.

The new EV charger will be sold through home improvement retailers, wholesalers, and hardware stores, and Generac's dealers will offer in-home consultations and installations. The charger is set to become available for purchase in the second half of 2023.

In addition to its new EV charger, Generac also debuted Geotab telematics in May 2022, a solution that provides utilities with real-time monitoring data sent directly from an EV's diagnostic port. With this new offering, Generac continues to expand its offerings in the energy market.
