Pre-production models are expected to roll off the assembly line in July, followed by the initial run of delivery vehicles later this year. Full-scale production will begin in 2024, with the plant having the capacity to produce up to 30,000 vehicles annually.
B-ON CEO, Stefan Krause, said the demand for their electric delivery vehicles is expected to surpass their production capacity in Germany alone and that Karma’s facility in California is perfectly positioned to address the North and South American markets while providing access to Karma’s world-class workforce and capabilities. The sentiments were echoed by Karma CEO, Jeff Wawryzniak, who said he is proud to be partnering with B-ON and to be the exclusive manufacturer of their last-mile delivery vehicles in North America.
B-ON, formerly known as StreetScooter, was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL in 2022, and it offers Max Pure and Max Box variants of delivery vehicles, with the latter being able to carry approximately 250 packages and travel 125 miles on a single charge. Customers can also opt for a Giga Box model that can accommodate around 300 packages with a reduced range of 91 miles.
