Mercedes has finally given us a sneak peek at the interior of the next-generation E-Class, codenamed W214. The luxury sedan features a dashboard with three screens, including an optional MBUX Superscreen with a selfie/video camera and an extra screen on the passenger side. The camera is available as part of the MBUX Superscreen and can be used to take photos and videos or for video conferences via Zoom or Webex.
The car uses dual light control technology to prevent videos from being seen by the driver's peripheral vision. Additionally, the car has a camera to detect if the driver is looking at the passenger screen. When the driver looks at the passenger screen, the brightness can be reduced to make it less visible for the driver and reduce distraction, while the front passenger can still view content even when the screen is dimmed.
Furthermore, the car will come with a range of entertainment options. The TikTok social app will be embedded into the MBUX, along with the Angry Birds casual game and the Vivaldi web browser. An optional ZYNC entertainment portal will also be available, providing access to video streaming, games, news, and additional on-demand content on the central and passenger screens.
The 2024 E-Class will also have an Active Ambient Lighting option that changes the lighting based on the rhythm of the music played. The car comes with a Burmester surround sound system with 17 speakers and four sound transducers in the front seats as standard equipment.
Mercedes plans to release the new E-Class in the United States later this year following a world premiere in the coming spring.
