Porsche used various iterations of VW's venerable workhorse, the Transporter, since it didn't have a van of its own. The ID. Buzz with Porsche branding will be displayed in the Netherlands starting this month. The EV's retro-themed design with Renndienst branding pays tribute to the first Bulli used in the 1954 Mille Miglia race.
Aside from transporting race cars, these vans served other purposes, as some were used by the racing team as a makeshift hotel, while others were tasked to take the drivers to and from circuits.
In November 2020, Porsche revealed the Vision Renndienst, an electric van with a central driver's seat flanked by two passenger seats, as part of the "Porsche Unseen" series of secret concepts. Porsche decided to showcase it alongside a Volkswagen T1 van wearing a similar red livery. However, there are no plans for a production version.
