Ford has expanded its Puma ST range with a new variant, which boasts a smaller 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, Powershift dual-clutch gearbox and a mild-hybrid system.

Ford has unveiled a new variant for its Puma ST range, aimed at diversifying the lineup. The new Puma ST Powershift features a smaller 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine with a mild-hybrid system that delivers 168 horsepower and 183 pound-feet (248 Newton-meters) of torque. This is less powerful than the 1.5-liter variant, which offers 197 hp and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque.

The new Powershift model uses a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic gearbox, with paddle shifters, enabling the car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 7.4 seconds. This is 0.7 seconds slower than its predecessor with a 1.5-liter engine, which uses a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the 48V setup helps cut fuel consumption to 6.3 liters / 100 kilometers and lowers CO2 emissions to 144 g/km. The full torque kicks in at 3,000 rpm, and peak horsepower arrives at 5,750 rpm. The new model also benefits from the active exhaust valve technology, which alters the soundtrack depending on the driving mode.

The new Powershift variant comes in six exterior paint options, with an ST-exclusive Azure Blue paint job available, contrasted by an optional glossy black roof. The spicy crossover also boasts black side mirror caps, grille surround, and roof spoiler as standard, while the 19-inch wheels can be had with a Magnetite finish.

Inside, the new Puma ST Powershift features Ford Performance-branded sporty front seats wrapped in synthetic leather, along with a heated windshield and a wireless charging Pad. The model also comes equipped with front and rear parking sensors, automatic wipers, and several driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control. However, it still uses the old SYNC3 infotainment, but customers get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
