The upcoming DB12, Aston Martin’s new front-engine sports car, is set to replace the current DB11 model. Recent spy shots taken during cold weather testing in Sweden reveal a new and refreshed design. The most noticeable changes are at the front end, featuring a larger grille, redesigned headlights, a pronounced splitter, a ventilated hood, and a redesigned front bumper. However, the rest of the design is expected to carry over from the DB11, with a few notable updates.
The new DB12 is expected to feature a revised suspension and an upgraded interior. The latter promises to include a modern infotainment system that may feature a “proper English accent,” similar to Mercedes’ MBUX setup. The engine is also expected to receive upgrades, although specific details have not been released. The current DB11 offers a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 528 horsepower (393 kW / 535 PS) and 513 lb-ft (675 Nm) of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in four seconds, with a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h).
Customers also have the option to upgrade to a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine that delivers 630 horsepower (470 kW / 639 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This engine can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 208 mph (334 km/h).
While the prototype is heavily camouflaged, Aston Martin has confirmed that deliveries will begin in the third quarter of this year. During their 2022 financial results presentation, the company also teased the model beneath the Union Jack, although the image went largely unnoticed.
