A woman was found alive inside a Jeep Wrangler that was almost entirely submerged in a lake in Marion County, Texas, after officials responded to a call for recovery operations.

On Friday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a fisherman at Lake o’ the Pines, less than 30 miles west of the Texas-Louisiana border, about a black Jeep vehicle that appeared to be submerged in the lake, authorities said.

Capt. Chuck Rogers, an investigator at the Marion County Sheriff's Office, told USA Today authorities don't know how or when the Jeep ended up there. It was approximately 18 minutes between the time deputies were dispatched and their arrival, he added.

“It was at that time they saw the woman,” Rogers said. “The fisherman and wrecker employee were able to help the woman from the Jeep. They placed her into the boat and she was brought to shore.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman went to the hospital and in the process of the investigation, they learned that she was a missing person from Longview, Texas.

Officials also said that due to the circumstances surrounding the incident that they won’t be releasing further information about the woman or the situation as a whole.
