The bespoke race car was developed with Signatech, Alpine's racing team, to tackle the demanding Colorado Springs event on June 25th. The A110 Pikes Peak underwent two evaluations in southern France after being tested in Lurcy-Lévis.
This model has a significantly more aggressive look than its predecessors, thanks to a unique aero package that includes a large two-piece rear wing, a prominent front splitter, a central fin, redesigned side skirts, and a rear spoiler. However, the real changes are found under the hood, where a turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline engine produces nearly 500 horsepower (373 kW), compared to the road-going version's 296 hp (221 kW).
The car's weight has also been significantly reduced to 950 kilograms (2,094 pounds), making it lighter than the Mazda MX-5 990S special edition while packing three times the power. The race car has an aggressive diffuser flanked by deflectors as part of the aero kit.
While Alpine has no immediate plans to offer the A110 in America, the vehicle's American enthusiasts may still have a glimmer of hope. Renault, the parent company, is said to be in talks with AutoNation, an auto dealer group, about selling the Alpine A110 in the United States.
