Liux, a Spanish electric vehicle startup, has unveiled its latest project, the Geko. The micro EV is a compact and affordable follow-up to the eco-friendly Animal crossover that the company launched in 2022.

The Liux Geko has a unique feature – a body made of sustainable biocomposite material created from linen fibers and bio-based resin. The eco-friendly material is left unpainted, showcasing a stylish carbon-fiber-style weave pattern. The company uses a lot of 3D printing in the manufacturing process to reduce production times and CO2 emissions.

The Liux Geko has the standard single-box proportions of micro-commuters, with a few sporty details like sculpted bumpers, large-diameter wheels, and thin LEDs. The rear-mounted electric motor produces a power output of 20 hp (15 kW / 20 PS), and the EV weighs just 550 kg (1,213 pounds). The Geko is classified as an L7e heavy quadricycle and has a modular 13 kWh battery pack that offers an estimated range of 150 km (93 miles). The battery is both recycling-ready and future-proof for upcoming technology advancements.

Liux has not disclosed the timeline for the development of the urban EV or its targeted price tag. All the imagery on the company's official website is computer-generated, indicating that there is currently no physical prototype. However, the Geko's modular battery pack, sustainable biocomposite material, and the use of 3D printing in the manufacturing process make it an exciting prospect for the future.

Several major automakers, including Stellantis and Renault Group, have recently launched or unveiled their heavy quadricycles, making this segment increasingly popular. With its unique features and eco-friendly approach, the Liux Geko could be a strong contender in the market if it reaches production.
