Robert Downey Jr. is not just Iron Man. Sure, this is the role that made him famous around the entire planet, but he has many other significant roles. In his new journey, Downey will embark on a mission to save his vintage vehicles and make them more environmentally friendly. And you will be able to watch the process in a new TV series.

HBO Max has just released the first trailer for Downey’s Dream Cars, a new series that premieres on June 22. Robert Downey Jr. serves as a host and co-producer of the show, alongside Boat Rocker’s Matador Content. With executive producers from Matador Content including Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, and Dave Larzelere, Team Downey's crew includes Emily Barclay Ford, while Kyle Wheeler serves as an executive producer from Discovery.

The goal of the show is to transform Downey's collection of classic cars, predominantly 1960s and 1970s American vehicles, into more efficient and eco-friendly machines suitable for the new era of mobility. To achieve this, Downey assembles a team of skilled engineers and mechanics who will convert his beloved machines into hybrids and electric cars.

Downey's dedication to the project stems from his desire to align his passion for classic cars with his commitment to environmental sustainability. He acknowledges that he was previously a "petrol-spewing mess" and a "hypocrite," considering he founded the Footprint Coalition in 2019 to promote technologies that combat climate change. However, Downey's optimistic outlook and penchant for creative problem-solving led him to pursue this innovative endeavor.

The first trailer for Downey's Dream Cars showcases a tantalizing glimpse of the actor's vintage car collection, including a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that he aims to convert into a fully electric vehicle. The promise of a groundbreaking transformation generates excitement among viewers, as the trailer boldly asserts, "What we are doing here, nobody’s ever done before."
