SUVs, once considered practical family haulers, are now transforming into formidable speed demons. Tesla, a leading player in the EV market, is not one to be left behind. The company's CEO, Elon Musk, recently announced that the Track Mode feature will soon be available for the Tesla Model X Plaid, further enhancing its performance capabilities.

While the Model 3 possesses superior agility compared to its flagship sibling, the Model S, it showcased the potential of Tesla's engineering prowess. Subsequently, Tesla extended the Track Mode functionality to the Model S Plaid, a vehicle renowned for its blistering acceleration, achieving a zero-to-60 mph time of just 1.99 seconds.

Although the Model X Plaid falls slightly short of the Model S Plaid's acceleration, this SUV is still remarkably swift. Currently, it holds the title of the fastest-accelerating passenger SUV, achieving a zero-to-60 mph sprint in as little as 2.5 seconds. This feat surpasses any comparable offering on the market, making the Model X Plaid a compelling choice for speed enthusiasts.

Owners of the Tesla Model X Plaid will soon receive Track Mode as a complimentary over-the-air software update, allowing them to unleash the vehicle's full potential on the track. This feature will enhance the SUV's cornering abilities, imbuing it with sports car-like handling. During the recent 2023 Tesla Annual Shareholder Meeting, when questioned about the inclusion of Track Mode for the Model X Plaid, Elon Musk responded affirmatively, stating, "Yeah, we could probably add that, sure. No problem."

While a specific timeline for the release of Track Mode on the Model X Plaid was not provided, it is important to note that Tesla develops this feature independently for each vehicle in its lineup. The Model Y, which shares a platform with the Model 3, received Track Mode in December 2022, despite being on the market since early 2020.
