The Tuktut derives its name from the Inuvialuit phrase, which means "young caribou." True to its name, this camper is lightweight, weighing in at a mere 634 pounds (284 kg). In fact, it's the lightest hard-wall truck camper ever produced by Scout Campers. The camper boasts an aluminum frame with a gel-coat fiberglass exterior and roof, ensuring durability and longevity.
Despite its compact size, the Tuktut doesn't compromise on comfort. It features a 22-inch door at the back and windows with thermal panes, screens, and solar reflective shades. For added convenience, there's an optional bed rail accessory available for $595, which allows users to securely tie down their gear to the camper's exterior.
Inside the camper, there's ample sleeping space for two people. The bunk mattress measures 47.5 inches by 69.6 inches (1,2 x 1,75 meters) , and an optional bunk extension can be added for $995. This extension provides an 80-inch (2.03 meters) sleeping length and includes a MOLLE storage panel along the side, offering additional storage options for campers.
To enhance the camping experience even further, Scout Campers has partnered with Goose Gear to create six accessories specifically designed for upgrading the truck topper. These accessories provide extra storage, including drawers, a utility module with a top hatch, and a battery system for powering electric devices.
Scout Campers began accepting pre-orders for the Tuktut on May 17, and the camper will be showcased to the public at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, starting May 19. For those looking for a slightly larger option, Scout Campers also offers the Yoho, priced at $22,495, which can accommodate up to four people and includes additional amenities such as solar panels, a portable water tank, a refrigerator, and a cooktop.
