Honda is set to make a comeback in Formula 1 as a powertrain supplier, partnering with Aston Martin F1 starting from 2026. This collaboration comes after Honda's successful stints with Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing in previous years.

With the upcoming rule changes in 2026, the F1 cars will undergo significant transformations. They will utilize three times more electrical power and feature a turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 engine fueled by fully synthetic fuel. The hybrid powertrains are anticipated to deliver over 1,000 horsepower, promising a thrilling performance on the track.

One of the key components of the powertrain, the MGU-K (Kinetic Motor Generator Unit), is expected to provide around 470 horsepower, roughly half of the total output. Honda aims to leverage the knowledge gained from developing this advanced powertrain for Aston Martin to enhance their road cars, including an upcoming "electric flagship sports model."

Honda's decision to supply powertrains to Aston Martin F1 marks an exciting chapter in the company's motorsport journey. The collaboration will not only contribute to the evolution of Formula 1 but also serve as a valuable platform for Honda to develop cutting-edge technology for their future road cars.
