Alpine, the French niche brand known for its sporty offerings, is gearing up for an ambitious expansion plan. With the goal of transforming from a single-model lineup to a diverse range of electric vehicles (EVs), Alpine has secured deals with multiple investors to support its aspirations in both road cars and Formula 1. One of its new partners is Maximum Effort Investments, co-founded by renowned actor Ryan Reynolds.

To bolster its presence in the racing world, Alpine has also gained support from Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners for its Formula 1 endeavors. The brand is set to compete in the 2024 World Endurance Championship, and it recently unveiled its LMDh challenger, the A424_β. This impressive race car boasts a 3.4-liter, single-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain, producing an astounding 670 horsepower.

Turning the focus to Alpine's road cars, the brand has exciting plans for the future. Over the next decade, Alpine aims to launch a total of seven EVs. Let's take a closer look at what's in store.

  • A290_β Concept (2023): Alpine's upcoming A290_β is a sporty iteration of the reborn Renault 5. This subcompact hatchback is slated for release next year, showcasing Alpine's dedication to electrified performance.
  • C-segment Crossover GT (2024): Following the A290_β, Alpine will introduce a larger C-segment Crossover GT in 2024. This model will provide a blend of practicality, style, and electrification for customers seeking a versatile option.
  • A110 Replacement (2026): In 2026, Alpine plans to unveil the electric successor to its iconic A110. This highly anticipated model aims to capture the spirit of its predecessor while embracing the benefits of electric propulsion.
  • Electric A110 Roadster (TBA): As the electric lineup expands, Alpine is set to introduce a roadster version of the electric A110. This open-top variant will offer an exhilarating driving experience combined with zero-emission motoring.
  • A310 EV (TBA): Drawing inspiration from the past, Alpine will revive the legendary "A310" nameplate, last used in 1984. This new electric four-seat sports coupe will merge Alpine's heritage with cutting-edge electric technology.
  • D/E Segment SUVs (TBA): As Alpine moves closer to 2030, it has plans to introduce larger D/E segment models that will occupy the top of its lineup. These SUVs, aimed at challenging the likes of the Porsche Macan and Cayenne, will feature coupe-inspired styling and offer a compelling blend of performance and luxury.

Alpine's expansion isn't limited to its product range alone. The brand has its sights set on a global presence, including a strategic entry into the United States market in 2027. Central to this ambitious seven-model lineup is the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), a foundation that underpins the brand's future EV offerings. However, Alpine is not solely focused on battery-powered EVs; it also intends to explore hydrogen-fueled combustion engines, highlighting its commitment to innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

“This comprehensive range of sports cars will cement our market share in our key markets in Europe and Japan. It will turbocharge our international growth, particularly in the USA and Asia, where our new models will be on sale from 2027. Our goal is to expand from a niche segment brand to a fully-fledged global brand. By combining a larger range with international expansion, we target an operating margin over 10 % by 2030, and thereby put our business model on a permanent footing,” explains Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine.
